Just An Hour With You.

Because I have three children, it takes planning just to spend time with one of them alone. I have found a great schedule that works out so that I can spend at least one hour with each of my children alone. Luke is mostly up in the night until about 1 or 2 so I guess I could count that as his Alone time. But mostly the other two are the ones that i'm talking about. Isaac wakes up earlier than Penn and because of this, I get to spend a couple of hours with him, making him breakfast, helping him get ready for the day, and going over homework pages or playing games. I am so grateful for this one on one time that we have together. A couple of days ago Isaac wanted to play Candy Land, and we always put a couple of pieces of candy at the end when we win. Well, of course I got the picture of lady lollipop and he said "I know mom, we can have our guys hold hands and WIN TOGETHER!" He is just so sweet. I was just thinking of how wonderful it is to spend just an hour or two alone with a child, it gives me time to reflect on their pure little spirit & enjoy their personality. Penn is fun becuase he loves to play physical games like Airplane or peek a boo. He loves to hide in our red lady bug tent and put his face up to the window and say BOO! or HIII! He loves to read stories with pictures that you can touch and feel. He is very happy, laughs easily, and is just so wonderful. I love my children and the stages that they are in. I feel so fulfilled in my life, and even though most days I don't leave the house, I feel content at home with these sweet little people that I call my family.

Since I have all boys, this little poem runs through my mind often....

Nobody knows what a boy is worth,
We'll have to wait and see.
But every man in a noble place
A boy once used to be.

- Author unknown

Also in a recent talk by President Thomas S. Monson he said

Never let a problem to be solved be more important than a person to be loved.

This phrase runs through my mind mostly when I'm running out of patience...

wow, such GREAT advice! Sometimes I realize after I've put them to bed that I haven't spent that much time with one or the other, and my heart breaks... and I can't wait for them to wake up in the morning so I can show them that momma really does love them!
