32.
Yup. This is the middle of my middle agedness. I like it. Why? I have cute kids- a husband who I adore- good friends and a little pocket change to spend to get my craft on. Penn - he rushed into my room this morning and exclaimed: "mom, you know what I got you for your birthday? A punch in the face!" We laughed and laughed- he is too funny! So we had dinner here because the reality of taking 4 rascally kids to dinner made me loose my appetite. We opened a couple of presents and cards and I read the sweet letters that my husband, parents and in laws wrote to me and I felt loved. How nice & sweet. I have such wonderful friends and I feel truly blessed in my life.
I don't mean to sound sentimental- but I really can't think of anything that I would even want that I don't have. I have just such good and positive people around me and the funniest boys. I mean- they really just crack me up. Unless, I am on the phone diverting my attention away from them. In those moments they are sheisters!
Top 5 things I like about my life right now:
1. I have 4 healthy and emotionally happy children. A miracle. Really. I love seeing them progress, grow, and thrive in their talents. I love teaching them primary songs & practicing piano with Isaac. Looking over homework is awesome because Isaac is self reliant enough to do this on his own and show me his work. I love watching them succeed. And yes, I am completely living vicariously through them.
2. I am married to someone that I really like. He is my friend and I am proud to be his wife. He is hilarious. I'm glad that our mutual weirdness matches up and that he tolerates me- even though I am a foot shorter than him- and blunt- and set expectations. He is good to me. And sometimes he helps me clean. Total bonus right there.
3. I love my little cottage home. It is just little and has enough space for all of us to be cozy. I like reading books to my children at night curled up on the couch. I think I like the scholastic book orders just as much as they do!
4. I get to make cute crafts and clean my house. This brings me a lot of joy. Right now my house smells like a pumpkin rolled in cinnamon and smoky leaves- just like fall- and it is just a little heaven on earth right here. I am finding joy in the art of home making. It is kind of what I look forward to at the end of the day. Sewing and crafting. I don't even care how cheesy this sounds. This makes me happy.
5. I feel settled into a ward where I truly have lots of good friends. Our relief society is small- but that is fun cause we all really feel like sisters. Being a member of the church has blessed my life in so many ways. And.. I got a new calling to be the Relief Society enrichment person. And I am thrilled. Sure I may have moped around the house until 11 am after I got released from the primary. But, I'm over it now that I'm pintresting crafty ideas....
32 years- not too shabby! I would put up pictures of something totally awesome that you would be jealous of but guess what? I didn't do anything extra ordinary. But I do live a totally extraordinary life that includes being a mother, wife, and a part of an awesome church. And I am very happy and contented with my "up to my ears in babies." So you'll just have to stay tuned for the posts of my fabulous trips and fancy cars and how amazing I look after popping out a ton of kids, and doing something extravagant and my 40th birthday cause for now- I am in the thick of it and loving threatening my kids with "dropping them off at the orphanage."
