7 lbs 8 oz
19 in long
Born in Shenandoah, TX

My mom Janie, came to help us with the baby. That morning she got Isaac off to school and took care of the boys all day. Bryan & I woke up at 4:30 a.m to get ready to report to Hermann Memorial hospital at 5 a.m. We checked in, and got settled into our room. At around 6:30 they began the I.V. and the pitosin. I was all ready dilated to a 4 so now it was just about waiting for the baby to arrive. I was having contractions pretty steady so at about 11 a.m I asked for an epidural. The doctor came in and Bryan left so they could give the epidural. Bryan just loved explaining exactly how long the needle was. Thank you very much. I don't like to get all worked up about the details- so I told him to "knock it off." The epidural was great because I could still move around and feel my legs. I could only feel pressure- and none or very little pain.

After that my friend Linda stopped by to wish us luck! We had a fun time visiting and laughing. Then, my good friends Rose & Carl came by to check on me- we were just hanging out- and having a great time- then the nurse came to check on me. By that time, I was dilated to a 10 and 100%  effaced. However, the baby wasn't in the exact place that she should be so we just waited for her to get into the right position. This took a little over an hour. Then the nurse checked me again- and told me not to push at all because she had to call Dr. Holly Westmoreland. The doctor said- oh, I can tell she has a head full of hair. I was so happy about that.  I couldn't wait to see what she was going to look like!

Then I started pushing and I only had to push 4 times and she was here! They put her on me right away and wiped her off. At this hospital they do skin to skin contact for the first hour- and then weigh & measure her after that. She was super cute- and had 1 inch of jet black hair! She looks exactly- and I mean exactly like Bryan's baby new born picture! She has dimples, but her face is still so chubby that you can only see them every once in a while. We agreed that she & Penn look the most alike as newborns.

It was honestly, the easiest deliver so far- because she was a normal size- thank you very much, Sadie! And the doctor and nurse were amazing. I really have been impressed  with their competence when it comes to having babies! I had total confidence that everything would work out great.

Here are a few pictures of the new addition to the Smith Family. We love her so very much and now that she is here- I couldn't imagine our family without her.
We checked out of the hospital on Valentines day:)

Sweet Sadie Jane

Rick & Jackie visiting the baby after they
got home from their carnival cruise. It was so funny
hearing about them camping out on the deck
and eating boxed cereal & milk. Mr. Boy scout had packed
a flashlight & pocket knife so that they could make
a shelter for themselves. Yes, they were on THAT ship- and they had quite fond memories of the experience-
now that it was over of course!

Hanging out in her crib- sadie is a wonderful baby.
She is calm and nurses very well.

Isaac meets Sadie
After the baby was born, Bryan went to get the family
to meet their little sister.
Penn & Luke LOVED messing with
the settings on the hospital bed.

A few extra highlights:

My mom stayed with us so that means she helped out quite a bit. She organized the kitchen- the kids clothes, and cleaned the house. She took really great care of the boys and they had a lot of fun with her. She had me take a lot of naps and folded all of our laundry. When Bryan got home from work- we would visit. One of the funniest conversations we had was about how our boys break everything and it is hard to keep things up in the house. Somehow we ended up talking about my aunt carol who had I think 5 boys- and how they seriously had a blue wrestling mat that they would throw down and wrestle each other. My mom suggested we get one of these. Then Bryan, who is hilarious was like " did they have an Indian exchange student, TONTO, meet our boys. Cowboys Vs. Indians." we were dying laughing.

We are grateful that she came to help because we couldn't have done it with out her for sure!
