Reap what you sow...

One thing about Isaac is he loves to work! Good on ya mate!

This year we planted our first family garden. Bryan built the garden boxes, Isaac worked hard and hauled the soil back, sewed the seeds, planted the vegetables, and made a new home for the earth worms by carefully placing them into the soil and covering them up again. I have learned a lot in this process. At first, I thought "gardening is easy." But the more we read, the more we realized gardening is a detailed skill and I have to go about a successful garden carefully.

1. It ALL starts with the soil (we got the best Natures Way in Shanendoah)
2. Read the instructions on each plant & plant accordingly
3. You need several earthworms to airate the soil & make natural fertilizer
4. You have to tend your garden every day- pick off the little bugs and insects, spray with natural pesticides
5. Bryan is amazing- he built those boxes like nobody's business- without him- there would be no garden. Ya done good cute husband of mine!

In the end we planted:

Box 1 (salsa)
3 breeds of tomatoes (early girl, roma, beefmaster)
white onions
cilantro
peppers
garlic
basil for good measure

Box 2 (family favorites)
strawberries
sugar snap peas
baby carrots
green beans

Trees
 Meyer Lemon tree
Lime tree
Satsuma Orange Tree

Flowers
Sunflowers on the South side of the front yard
Purple pansies in the flower bed ( my grandma LaWanna's favorite)
