Thanksgiving Dinner, Pre-Christmas & Future Mathletes

Isaacs pre-k class.
Isaacs class had the first Thanksgiving dinner. I was able to go and help prepare the meal, read the first thanksgiving story, sing silly songs with them, and help teach how to make an easy pumpkin pie. I was grateful for the opportunity to go. Isaac was different than I expected him to be. At home he is very lively, chatty, & full of it. But at school, he was very quiet, a little shy, and attentive to the teachers. Mrs. Knapp asked who were the first people to celebrate thanksgiving and he raised his hand, but then when he answered her, he just said quite seriously, "I don't remember, but I do know there were REAL squirrels." It was fun to see him in his element. His teachers this year are Mrs. Mierstein, and Mrs. Knapp- I am very impressed with the two of them, they are great.
Isaac & Luke "hugging it out" and yes, those are Christmas lights that were strung up around his room, and yes, we just put up the stockings too. One tradition we have is putting up Christmas lights in the kids room, This year Isaac will get his very own little tree and we will place a few presents from the dollar store under it(from the brothers). I remember having my own Christmas tree in my room as a kid, and it is a tradition i'd like to continue.

Penn & Isaac configuring marble roller coasters. This by far, is one of their favorite toys; plus it helps develop their little math brain- when they get tired of puzzles.

I love hearing about other people's traditions. Having your own tree sounds like a good one! Is there any background for it or reasons for it? Just curious. :)
