Laundry: The only mountain in Texas

Hey I have a silly, but valid question. Lately, my laundry has been looking pretty ratty- even after I take special care to make sure the colors don't fade. I try to wash like things together- and even have been using that new special Tide renewal stuff that makes it supposedly fade less fast... anyway, does anyone have any special tips that makes their clothes look nicer for longer?

Seriously, I hear ya girl... I've got a whole mountain range going on over here. Yikes! It's spooky! Here's a suggestion... disposable clothes. (But that's so NOT 'green' ;)

I'm just figuring out the trick where you shouldn't dry sweaters in the dryer, and washing red and white together is not a good idea. You are way ahead of me.

But take comfort, the 80's are back, that means hypercolor, acid wash, and heathered colors are in!

Here is the only thing that I've been able to figure out to do, but it is a pain! NEVER DRY ANYTHING! My mom taught me this trick and I have things that I can still wear from before Michael and I even met! I know I know that sounds so hard, but you can buy a drying rack for your clothes. It does cut down how often you use your dryer. I only dry underwear, clothes, and old t-shirts. Everything else I hang dry! And this way nothing every shrinks on you! Good luck~Amber

Try adding a cup of vinegar the first time you wash something - or as often as you want. It helps the color to set. Remember making tie dye shirts and soaking them in vinegar to set the color?
Also, turn clothes inside out. Not everything, just the stuff you are worried about fading or wearing out like dark indego jeans and more delecate materials. That way they still get clean, but there isn't as much friction from the blades of your washer and other clothes.
Finally, make sure that you use your hot water sparingly as it can loosen up the dyes in clothes and cause fading. Follow directions on the tag as to the water temp. If there is a garment you are more worried about, go to a cooler setting.
It sounds complicated, but it works and quickly becomes second nature and easy.
Cute blog! :)
