So this year as we decided on what our family goals would be- it was no surprise that they were similar to last years goals with a few extras added in. As we have been holding regular family home evening, and reading the scriptures daily, I have really felt our family grow closer. Since Isaac is now old enough to understand, comprehend, and repeat back what he has learned, I have really felt an urgent need to instill in him certain principles of kindness, what we believe, scripture stories, and a love for the Savior. Last night as Isaac said the prayer for FHE- I was so impressed that he could say a thoughtful and meaningful prayer, including the principles that we have been talking about throughout the week. It has also brought a lot of joy to hear him sing The Family is of God the new primary song. He knows every word of the first verse- and he is a great little singer. I am just so happy that he is becoming a good young man who loves the gospel and is obedient. I feel closer to my own little family and am excited about our other children that we will someday have. I know that right now, we have only just started our own family traditions, but I feel grateful for my parents and Bryans family for a love of the gospel that they showed us thoughout their lives. Through regular temple attendance and activity in the church, Bryan and I really have found a meaningful happy life- even though we may have had some heartbreaking times or difficult decisions to make. Living in Texas has really opened my eyes about the blessings we do have as members of the church. And even though it has been been very hard to live away from our families, we have really been blessed to be able to reach outside our selves and also find meaningful friendships. As we were deciding on where to go for date night last week- we both thought, there is no place we'd rather be than at the temple, it is such a sacred and special place. As we were able to do a few sealings, we were reminded of the blessings and promises God has in store for our family if we live righteously and keep our covenants. I am just overwhelmed with the love that our Savior has for us, and I know without a doubt that he has really carried our family through some difficult times. We are grateful for our blessings and thankful that we have a family while here on this earth and that it is forever.
